Termite Free Living Tips |
- Eliminate moisture problems in and around the home
- Keep proper ventilation in both the attic and the crawl space areas.
- Keep standing water away from the foundation
- Remove potential food sources from around the house (dead stumps, firewood, wood debris and paper.
- Eliminate all wood to ground contact around the exterior perimeter of the structure
- Regularly inspect wood decks and wood fences for activity or damage
- Keep all mulch and other ground cover below the sideing around the exterior perimeter of the home.
- Look for warning signs (wings discarded from “swarmer” termites, mud tunnels, bubbled or cracked paint)
- Seal nail holes and cracks in exposed wood to help prevent easy access by drywood termites.

Signs of Infestation |
There are three different signs of termite presence.
Swarmers - Presence of swarmer on the window sills, indoor lights detects the activity of these termites. Swarmers if found outside the premise is a natural phenomenon but it should not be taken for granted as it could lead to severe damage.
Wings - Swarmer discard their wings. These discarded wings also indicates termite presence.
Rotten/ Damaged Wood - Hollow, damaged and rotten wood clues for the presence of termites. If a wood gives a thudding sound on beaten up, should examined for termites. Presence of soil mounds near your premise also indicates presence of termites. |
